Ponti\u00a0Art Gallery was founded in 1997 by Alessio Ponti, Italian expert in painting and sculpture of the XIX\u00a0and early XX\u00a0centuries, as well as expert of the Court of Rome in the field of Art. The venue of the exhibition space is located in the historic center of the capital, a few meters from Piazza Farnese, in via di Monserrato, 8-9.<\/span><\/p>\n

The story of Our Gallery\u00a0is rooted in the history of our\u00a0family, always distinguished by an indissoluble bond with the reality of museum institutions and the world of collecting. The keen interest in artistic practices born with Giovanni Ponti (1896 – 1961), mayor of Venice Biennale commissioner – who presided over then until 1960 – and Minister for Tourism, sport and entertainment in the 1954\/55 biennium. Giovanni, patron and close friend of the most important Italian artists of the early twentieth century, inaugurated the first exhibition space in the heart of the capital.<\/span><\/p>\n

His son, Giorgio, RAI journalist, ensured continuity to the experience founded by his father, focusing its interests on ancient art. The passion of Ponti\u00a0family\u00a0for artistic practices finds fulfillment in the work of Alessio, owner of the gallery, which has become a reference point for fans and collectors of art produced in Italy at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Finally, thanks to the involvement of Tommaso, Alessio’s son, the gallery has recently opened a department dedicated to modern and contemporary Italian.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the configuration assumed by the new exhibition space, today the Gallery selects and sells\u00a0the best works by\u00a0the most important artists active in Italy in the period between the early decades of the nineteenth century and the Second World War.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
