His parents, Edmondo Dova, a Roman by adoption with Piedmontese origins, and Maria Rauchensteiner from Munich, provided a culturally rich environment that nurtured his artistic inclinations. The family moved to Milan when Dova was 16, a city that would play a crucial role in his artistic development. Initially intending to pursue architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan, the tumult of World War II redirected his path towards the arts.
