His work has also been included in numerous group exhibitions, such as "Invisible Adversaries: Marieluise Hessel Collection" at the Hessel Museum of Art, Bard College, in 2016, and the 2008 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Thompson's work is held in the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris, The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, SFMoMA in San Francisco, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
